The Shareholders of New Beat Farm
Return to: New Beat Farm

Support from shareholders in its CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and customers at the local farmers market have kept business thriving at New Beat Farm. Currently, the farm grows four acres of MOFGA Certified Organic produce and cut flowers for its 85 member CSA and farmers markets in Belfast and Orono, and smattering of local restaurants.
To be a shareholder in of the CSA is to be a member of the New Beat Farm community. A member gives his or her support to the farm in winter and early spring, allowing for the farm to plan and buy supplies. This, in turn, is paid back to members with generous shares of fresh-picked and certified organic produce throughout the summer and fall. In return for supporting the farm early in the season, shareholders also enjoy the farm’s vegetables for below market prices, making it the most affordable way to buy local organic produce.
New Beat Farm shareholders also get the opportunity to get connected to the land, hands and horses that supply their food at events on the farm and through weekly newsletters. A share in the farm’s CSA runs for 18 weeks from mid-June through mid-October.

Natural resources need economic value to sustain and further the goals of conservation. ShadeFund is promoting that economic value and making triple bottom line results a reality.
