Partn-25~Farmer Veteran Coalition
About the Farmer Veteran CoalitionThe mission of the Farmer Veteran Coalition is to mobilize veterans to feed America. We cultivate a new generation of farmers and food leaders, and develop viable employment and meaningful careers through the collaboration of the farming and military communties.
The Farmer Veteran Coalition was started in 2008 by Michael O'Gorman, a pioneer in America's organic farm movement, with over 40 years of farming experience. Michael brought together members of the farming and veteran communities to help address two critical issues. First, an aging farming community in critical need of young farmers. Second, the high unemployment rate and lack of viable career opportunities for American veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, particularly the disproportionate number of veterans returning home to our small towns and rural communities. It is at this intersection of socio-economic need that FVC is uniquely qualified to help. America's agricultural community needs our veterans as much as they need us.
